The three pairs of pants I made in a row a few months ago have really worked their way into my wardrobe. This makes me terribly happy. Success! The wrap pants are so versatile (and easy) that I'm tempted to make another pair. Of course, I still have some of this loosely-woven camel fabric that I made the first pair out of...I'm tempted to make a matching top of some sort, though wearing anything approaching a "suit" gives me the heebie-jeebies. Though I want to try my hand at a real pair of tailored trousers. Challenging. I'd almost settled on a wrap skirt for my next project...mm.

I think I'm getting a handle on the fitting problem that each of these pairs of pants has in common. I think that instead of making the darts shorter or wider or whatever that I just need to chop off the top inch or two of the pattern. My natural waist is so high that wearing waistbands there looks weird, and I have a long "rise" which means that because my waist is so high I'd have to make the crotch seam longer. OR, I can just wear my pants a little low and create the illusion of a waist in a normal place, but then the pants don't fit right...so chop off the top couple of inches of the pattern and maybe it'll all work. I need to make a duct tape dress form so that I can sit there and fiddle with the fitting because putting it on and staring doesn't work.

Yay!

The bones for my corset are here!!! I jump up and down and clap my hands in delight. The only thing between me and being finished is sore fingers from hand-stitching the bias tape to the lining and sore hands from using tinsnips on spiral steel.
