I finished the cloak today. It's gorgeous! All it needs is a clasp - where can I find one outside of internet land, anyone? I think that my problem with making stuff for other people is that I'm too much of a perfectionist. I could have just made a nice, simple, easy, inexpensive cloak. But Nooo, I had to create something fabulous. *sigh* It's wonderful, and I'm very proud of it, but I'm impatient with myself over it. I'll be posting pictures soon...probably after I've found a clasp. If it were in my colors I'd be tempted to keep it.

Because I don't feel like paying for shipping.

I generally make clasps out of two really cool-looking buttons and some chain.

Try belt buckles from the fabric store.

The type for decorative belts that is a hook and a hoop.

That's where I got the clasp for my brown cloak, and it works pretty well, if I say so myself.

Alternately, use a bra clasp for a closure.

Then get two large medallions and put them on either side of the clasp. From an initial view, people will think the medalions are a clasp, and not realize that it's actually two seperate parts.

yeah - fabric stores will sometimes have something that will work - a frog closure if not a metal one.

for cloak clasps, i try to hit up Moresca at the renn fest when they're in town. :)

or go to faire tomorrow! (I think, hope, plan on trying to go since according to Alex, Emi is up for it!) They sell fancy metal claspy thingys and since it is THE last day, you might be able to haggle.
